Coming up on the heels of the successful group show at The Re Institute curated by Henry Klimowitz in his new Barn Gallery near Boston Corners, the Spring for Art Show will take place the weekend of May 1st-May 2, 2010 in Millerton Village. Shops up and down Main Street/Route 44 from Gilmore Glass and Salsa Fresca to Harney's Tea, Little Gates, B.W. Eagle, Tierney's, #9 Restaurant, Millerton Antique's Center and more will be featuring original art by over 75 local artists from the tri-state area.Last Fall's show was a great success with over 3000 artists, art lovers and their friends coming out in the torrential rains to discover wealth of creative talent in this rural artist enclave . This year, the show will feature the new work of over 75 contemporary artists from the area, many of whom are members of a new group who call themselves The 14th Colony Artists.
This newly-formed group meets once a month at the homes of various local artists and serves as a network where artists can exchange ideas and information, help promote their work and upcoming events, plan exhibits, get input on new projects and share food, drink and a few laughs.
As part of the Spring for Art Show, the group will be exhibiting their work at the former
David Gavin Salon at the end of the parking lot near Harneys Teas -- thanks to the generosity of building owner Bill Flood. With over 2400 square feet of space, it's the perfect venue for an eclectic group of artists and their work. The show will feature all genre and styles of original art, from portraits and landscapes to abstract and expressionist work, from drawings to three-dimensional paintings and sculptures.
To make the work accessible to those who are buying art for the first time, as well as more seasoned collectors, the work is priced for affordability, ranging from $100 to $5000. In addition to the work shown in the show, many of the artists are available for private commissions, public art projects and murals.
